About This Song

One afternoon, we made a collective decision to design a track that embodied the raw, playful energy of the Tapori beats. Sitting there with drum pads and laptops, we were tracking our way through time signatures, rhythms and layers of percussion. In a couple of hours, Tapori Beat Original was born.

We tried out a few patterns that I initially felt did not go together, but improvisation and playful trial and error allowed those mistakes to become key creative features. For example, the layers of electronic hi-hats and bass lines attributed modern energy to the work while maintaining the Tapori essence.

By the end of the session, Tapori Beat Original felt alive, playful and authentic as a piece of work that captured both tradition and our spatial creativity in the session. We smiled at our smiles listening back to our energetic work we had built up from raw sounds.
