About This Song

It was late in the night, after jamming out, when we decided to try something new, Congo House Original. We wanted to take the deep, full rhythms of the Congo drums and blend them with the steady, swinging pulse of house music.

We laid down Congo beats, along with bumping electronic basslines and hi-hats, and we would even throw in some more subtle synths. Sometimes, we would have some patterns that didn't fit well together, but adjusting some tempo and fills made almost all the rhythms dynamic and well-balanced. We even ended up with a few random "accidental" hits, which added a unique and interesting character to the track.

By the time the sun was coming up, we had Congo House Original successfully completed: a sound that was easy to listen to while still having energy; a real fusion of both traditional and modern rhythms and delivery, capturing all the essence of both traditions.
